This is Celia C. Tillman, bringing you greetings and encouragement from the Honey-Comb of Praises. Our lesson for this month is PRECIOUS MOMENTS OF WOMEN IN CHRIST AND FINDING TIME FOR THE IMPORTANT THINGS. We, as Christian women, should always have an open mind to listen to God of how he wants us to conduct ourselves in this present world. I don’t know about you Ladies but I am eternally grateful that God made me a woman, (Genesis 2:21-23), and I strive to be that kind of a woman he wants me to be. I understand that I have a mission to accomplish and that mission is to lift up Christ. I also realize that I don’t own me and that I have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 1:7); that I must glorify Christ in my body where the Holy Spirit dwells (the word of God) of which was a gift. What I am trying to say Ladies, is that God paid a great price for me and I am to honor him with this body I now possess, (I Corinthians 6:19-20).
Ladies, how many times have our minds gone back to our homes and family life? When we look back on past experiences, we will be glad that we took advantage of some opportunities and sad that we didn’t do more while we had the chance. As Christian women, we must be wise and take hold of each opportunity or moment that God has made possible through his Son, Jesus Christ. You know Ladies, opportunities are first presented; they are soon gone and we may never be able to relive them again. We many ask ourselves questions sometime and say, “Did I really find time for the important things or did I spend most of my time worrying about trivial or insignificant matters?” Ladies if this is the case, we are in opposition to God’s word, and we don’t trust him. Jesus said “Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or drink; no yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more important than food and clothing?” (Matthew 6:25).
Some of us, however, have become so involved in this world that we have neglected precious moments in family relations. We can become so pressured in our thinking to believe that we have plenty of time to do what we have to do. We often say, I’m going to eventually find more time to spend with my family or I’m going to have more time to sit with the elderly, and yes, I will definitely read and commune with God on tomorrow.” Notice Ladies, we seem to always put God on our list last. You know, for some of us, time have expired and we can never recapture the lost moments we could have had. The Bible does a good job of teaching about life in this world, human experiences, and passing of time. It states, “Whereas we don’t know what shall be on tomorrow. What is your life? It is a vapor that appear for a little time and vanishes away,” (James 4:14). The days of our years upon this earth is determined by God and we must use it for his purpose and glory. The Bible teaches us that the days of our years are “three-score years and ten (70), and by reason of strength they are (80) and even our best years bring trouble and sorrow, and we disappear, or die,”(Psalm 90:10). Listen, my Christian Ladies and Friends we must be about our Father’s business. We must work while it is yet day but when night comes none of us can work (John 9:4).
The wise man Solomon said “whatever you find to do you should go ahead and do it, and don’t procrastinate , do it with all your strength; might because in the grave there is no work, planning, wisdom nor knowledge,” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
We spend our entire lives acquiring man’s knowledge; seeking recognition to please him instead of God. Many of us have become so worldly that we have lost sight of what is most important. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong in getting a good education so that one can have the finer things in life but if this is all one is seeking, one is in big trouble! The Bible tells us to seek the kingdom of God first and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto us: life, food, drink, clothing and shelter, (Matthew 6:25; 33).
We as Christians emphasize to our children the importance of getting a good education but can we say that we have stressed to them the importance of getting a good Bible education? However, for those of us whose children have left home, can we truthfully say that we have done everything possible in teaching them the precepts of God? We have become so dependent of others teaching our children just on Sunday Mornings, and Wednesday Nights Bible classes. Ladies, what about us taking full responsibility and giving them added teaching in the privacy our own home? We as parents and grandparents should all share in the spiritual teaching of our children. Many of our children have fallen by the wayside because of the lack of a strong Christian foundation. We can’t stress or emphasize enough of how important it is to have a strong Christian family whose foundation is built upon the Word of God, (Matthew 7:24-25). It has been said, “A family who prays together stays together.”
We, as Christian women, should be a part of that praying family that stays alert and tuned into that which is of sound doctrine. We have to “walk circumspectly, not as fools but wise redeeming the time because the days are evil, wherefore be ye not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is,” (Ephesians 5:15-17). Ladies, we must be careful that we don’t waver in our belief but be sensible and act not as fools because “the fool has said in his heart that there is no God,” (Psalm 14:1). When we have begun to walk in the ways of the world, it is then, that we have begun to distrust God. We have to make every moment count in serving the Lord because we don’t know when it will be the last day for us on this earth. There are many of us who believe that we are going to live forever upon this earth, and that we can procrastinate with time but time waits on no man. The day we hear the voice of God in his divine word, we should listen and obey him, (Hebrew 3:7-8). We should never allow ourselves to believe that God will wait on us until we decide to serve him, however if this is our belief, Satan has surely blinded our eyes.
Ladies, we must not forget that we are women who represent Christ, and that we must find time for those things that promote spiritual growth in Christ Jesus. We must continue to study and show ourselves approved to God, so that we can teach other, (II Timothy 2:15). We don’t want to miss out on going to heaven because of negligence. However, if heaven is to be our home, we must keep our memory charged on things that “we have received, and wherein we stand; have been saved, “(I Corinthians 15:1-2).
