Hello Ladies, this is Celia C. Tillman,
Bringing you greetings from the Honey-Comb of Praises, and openly expressing situations that we face from day to day. However, some of of these situations, may come in the form of sickness, or some other emotional condition. Who do we call when these conditions occur? Usually, we seek professional help, in the form of a doctor or physician.
First, who is a physician? A physician is a person who is licensed and qualified to practice medicine. It may be determined by some to even put an adjective before his name. Some may think of him as being a good doctor, or a bad one, depending on how they see him or the service he has rendered to them. Some may see him as being skilled and very knowledgeable in his field, or he may be kind, considerate; compassionate, or he may be the total opposite.
Today, how do we see Christ Jesus? As Christians, we see Him as the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world, John 1:29 and a healer who has opened our eyes to see the truth of His word, and as the Great Physician. We believe that He, and only He has a cure for all sins of the soul.. We sing a song:
There not a friend like, the lowly Jesus,
No not one! No not one! None else can
Heal all our soul diseases, No not one!
No, not one!
Let us consider some of the reasons why Jesus is our Great Physician, (1) He is the Physician of prophecy, Isaiah 35:1-6 (He ministered to the weak, the fearful, the blind, deaf, lame, the dumb; the broken heart, the captive, the imprisoned; the mourning, Isaiah 61:1-3) and Jesus would come with healing in his wings, Malachi 4:2.
Jesus is superior to earthly physician, because He had no need for years of specialized training, since He was present at the creation of man, Genesis 1:26-27; all things were made by Him, John 1:1-3. Jesus could give an instant diagnosis and cure, not like doctors today, who need sophisticated equipment to find out a problem, (X-RAYS, MRI’s, CAT SCANS and Lab Tests), and Jesus didn’t need a second opinion, and the patient didn’t have to take months of long drawn out therapy to gain his health. For example, the man with leprosy, who said, “If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.” Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him saying, “I will and be thou clean,” and his leprosy was cleansed, Matthew 8:2-3. Listen ladies, earthly physicians can offer healing for a little while in this life, however, Jesus is the only one who can give eternal life, John 3:16. Jesus is that doctor that has never lost a case
Jesus was and still is a Great Physician, He is one of compassion. He showed compassion to Martha and Mary, when their brother, Lazarus died, “Jesus wept,” John 11:35. Jesus is also the “Resurrection of life, John 11:25; He raised Lazarus from the dead, John 11:43-44. Ladies! what an awesome Physician Jesus is.
The Great Physician writes us a prescription. Some of us may say, I am not sick, but we are all sick, “sin sick,” the church is a hospital, where we come to be healed, and the head Physician is awaiting our arrival. The Bible teaches us that, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Roman 3:23. The Bible also teaches us that if we say that we have no sin, then we are liars and there is no truth in us, I John 1:8. Now, since we know that we are sick, who are we going to call on? Yes, none other than The Great Physician. Jesus pleads with us to “cast all our cares upon him for he cares for us,” I Peter 5:7. How many of us believe Him? Whether we believe Him or not, his word is truth, John 17:17; if we want to please God, we must have faith in Him, Hebrew 11:6, however, if we don’t believe in Him, heaven will not be our home, Revelation 21:8. I pray that all of us will share the prescription which is the teaching of Christ.
