I often get asked the question, “What is the Honeycomb of Praises?” So, I want to share with you my explanation of it, which is really what this website is all about.
Let us first define what a honeycomb is. The honeycomb is a structure of thin wall cells constructed from bees wax by honey bees to hold honey and eggs, (Heritage Dictionary, based on the new Second College Edition, printed for Holt, Rhinehart; Winston Inc., copyright 1983, pg 333).
The Bible is the sum total of God’s word- to mankind. It is like the honeycomb that adds sweetness; richness to the sin-sick soul, it heals the feeble mind, and bring forth clarity and understanding.
It rings out the greatness and power of almighty God, magnifying that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lord, Revelation 19:16; that he is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
God is all powerful; He is the only one that can give life everlasting, and a (home in heaven). We will never have to worry about dying a physical death, but our souls will live somewhere eternally with him or eternally lost, Revelation, 21:6-8, (depending upon our faithfulness to Him).
When man excepts the word of God, then His lip becomes a living testimony, and others can be able to benefit from His wisdom. “Pleasant words words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones,” Proverb 16:24.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction,” Proverb 1:7. Solomon is saying that the beginning of knowledge is respecting God, and those that are deficient in judgement (a fool) rejects wisdom and good advice.
The word of the Lord is clean (pure), lasting forever; when he judges it is fair and just, not like man’s judgement. His word is desired from all of those who hunger and thirst for righteousness altogether; More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold;sweeter than honey and the honeycomb,” Psalms 19:9-10.
